I like this site too - in many ways it is easier to use than Hero Central, and we've got more control over what we can do here (though it's limited by our pretty pitiful programming skills). It was meant to be a replacement for HC when it didn't look like it was coming back, but now I keep my game here because that's easier to do than moving it back again. I still visit HC most days, but that's mostly for chat. We also recruit solely from HC. We're not actually looking to grow, but anyone from there is free to run their game here.
As for what you can do to help, nothing springs to mind except to continue being a good gamer.

I'm just curious what the plan for this site is to be. This is the only place that I do any RPG's these days. I play in just one game: Solo Chicago. I like the site. It's clean. It's easy to use. They play Hero here.
But the membership doesn't appear to be growing and we don't seem to be actively recruiting - which makes me wonder about the long-term viability of the site. Was this intended to be a temporary replacement for HC? Is this just a small slice of escapist Heaven?
Where are we going? Is there anything I can do to help?

I myself am not running a Hero game, it's Pathfinder, however Jim Mills is running Solo: Chicago which is a Hero game.
RocETer is running Galaxies Edge which is a Star Hero game.
I know both are accepting new players, so I say contact either of the GM's. I'm in both games and both are pretty good.

In case it's helpful, the "Home" and "End" keys on your keyboard do the same thing. Not so lucky on a phone or tablet, I suppose. Yes, I like the toggle feature.

I like the go up and go down arrows. I open a thread, hit the go down button once and it takes me to the bottom of the page. The shoutbox is slightly useful, and it's good for silly fun too. Sorry for deleting all the shouts though - i thought i was just clearing my own shoutbox, but it turns out I deleted it for everyone. Think of it as a spring clean...
One feature I accidentally discovered yesterday is the toggle view button. It allows you to see the actual format in the posting box rather than then HTML tags. Once selected it seems to stay selected, so you will always see the format from now on.

Greetings Programs, TheQuestionMan here looking for a Superhero (Champions) PBeM to join. I was really just beginning to get the hang of the HERO Central Boards when things fell apart. I work alternating 5 days Afternoons and 5 days Graveyards. I sleep during the day. I can answer emails at work and check my email daily. Looks for a Group and someone to hold my hand during the initial stages until I get the swing of things. Hope to see a Reply. QM (TheQuestionMan AT gmail DOT com)

Hi all...I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, so I thought a new thread may be in order. The idea was for folks to have a place to ask questions about and discuss the pros and cons of existing features and provide feedback.
For instance, I'm wondering what the value of the "Go Up" and "Go Down" buttons are to the right. I get that's it's a neat gadget, but what actual value does it contribute to the site. I have a scroll bar to do that for me in all the browsers on all my devices. That being said, when I'm trying to post while on my phone, they get in the way of me being able to select text in the text editor. There have been cases where I just couldn't select what I needed to select. I finally gave up and went to my PC.
To me, it's a nuisance. Maybe they are beneficial for other folks in a way that I just haven't experienced. Maybe the point is moot as it can't be removed.
I'm also wondering what the value of the shoutbox is. It's not a nuisance to me. Maybe people like it.
Anyhow...that's all that's on my mind. But I'm kind of a minimalist.

Hero Central had a General Messages Board where any and all topics were discussed, sometimes including a GM and Players posting what a game was about, looking for players, players asking questions, etc. A lot of times there were non-game-related topics, but sometimes a GM would say he was seeking players, what his game was all about, etc. Just to mention this, in reference to the above quote.
Yes, but my point was that HC did not have a single thread or board dedicated to such a thing. You had to use the general boards for it, and they were very public, or private messages for it, if you wanted it to be private.

Kyper said: That's what the player recruitment threads are for as well as discussion. Hero Central did not have such a thread to discuss a game before joining it, that was done in PM's. The forum does have a download/upload ability accessable to all users. It's up at the top under the Downloads link.
Downside, everyone can access it. I am looking for an add-on to use so the individuals can have thier own FTP space.
gmail's gdrive can upload a variety of formats including various office formats. Only issue I have seen is smoe things formatted will not save the exact format on gdrive.
My forum here doesn't have that issue. I can also make it so each game has it's own downloads board accessable by people in that game only. Making personal FTP space though seems a bit difficult ATM, but I am looking for a mod that allows it.
